Sable Mountain Lodge Tanzania

Sable Mountain is found, humbly, on the Northwestern border of Selous Game Reserve. This camp obtains its name from the footprints of the unusual and gorgeous Roosevelt Sable Antelopes which were found here during the construction of the lodge in 1999. Constructed nearly completely by the Sable Mountain staff, you may meet the majority of the initial Sable team at the present day.

Constructed on 2 small hills offering spectacular views from all of the rooms, The Sable offers 6 stone cottages as well as 5 tented rooms that include 2 honeymoon suites. You can loosen up for a drink at the warm and welcoming “Landrover’s Return” pub prior to having dinner, or decide to cool off following a thrilling game drive in the cool swimming pool. Have a stroll down to the water hole and loosen up in the afternoon at one of our hideout to see the various animals that come here to drink water. About Selous Wildlife Reserve

Sable Mountain Lodge is available all year round however once in  while you may have to cancel trips; we recommend that you do not make reservation in the months of April and May because during that time, the southern part of Tanzania is receiving heavy rains. So to be on the safe side, avoid these two months. Although you may arrive at the lodge and even have a safari, you will be restricted to specifically the all – weather track during that time during the rainy months. During the rainy months, the wild animals usually remain hidden in the bushes because they don’t have to look for water at the water holes as it is in the dry season therefore it is really challenging to see in the dry season.

From July to October and then during the Christmas and New Year season are the main peak seasons within the Selous Reserve.  However, from January to March, that is the best time to explore the Selous Reserve. At that time, the international flights are less expensive, and the reserve is verdant and green due to the brief rains in November and December.  In February several wild animals are calving so the park is really amazing to explore since there are more animals here Since the climate is somehow hotter and from late February and March it becomes quite humid
